TUCSON - The Fall heat wave is almost over.

High pressure south of Los Angeles brings perhaps the final 100 degree day of the year today, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Today's forecast high of 100 degrees in Tucson would be the 74th triple digit day of the year, vaulting 2012 into the top 10 list for most 100 degree days. Expect mostly sunny skies this afternoon with a few cirrus clouds from time to time.

Today's record high for Tucson is 102 degrees set back in 1993.

High pressure retreats to the south starting tomorrow, as a storm system slowly develops in the eastern Pacific. Temperatures drop as a result, with daytime highs ranging from the upper 90's Thursday to the low 90's Sunday under sunny skies.

Next week sees that Pacific storm system move into the desert southwest. This takes temps down to the 80's Tuesday & brings a round of gusty winds to southern Arizona. Any rainfall stays in the northern part of the state.
