ORACLE - In the town of Oracle, snow started falling at lunch time Monday, within an hour it started to stick.
Trees, cacti and desert brush were lightly covered with snow, a rare February treat.
Families came from across Southern Arizona drove North to Oracle to enjoy this unexpected taste of winter.
Snow plows were called, making sure the roads were clear.
Oro Valley Resident Vicki Hoffman says, "it's wonderful I love the snow."
Fifteen year old Derek Dewald says, "I love it, it's the best thing in the world."
Waking up were you expecting this, asks News 4 Tucson's Rebecca Taylor.
"No not at all, and then Derek got out of school and he was wanting to come up here," says Hoffman.
Kids of all ages were seen throwing snow balls. While puppy dogs were running around eating it.
"Oh he loves it," says Hoffman while describing her dog, "he's having a ball as you can see."
If this winter weather continues, school districts could call a snow day. The last time Oracle had one was December 19th.
"Are you hoping for a snow day tomorrow? Yes," said Dewald.
The Oracle District will make the determination Monday morning by 4am.
