Posted 9:38 AM 2/24/2012 : Kitchen Cops: Roach killer found at sushi restaurant
TUCSON - On this week's Kitchen Cops:
Sonic Drive-In on E Irvington Road received 3 critical violations. Sliced cheese and ranch dressing were not being stored at the correct temperature. Raw bacon was stored above bags of hot dogs, and a floor drain was overflowing onto the floor. The report states that raw sewage is the cause for closure of the facility. The drain did drain eventually, so the facility was allowed to remain open. Sonic Drive-In on E Irvington received a "Needs Improvement" rating.
Sushi Cortaro on N Courtney Page Way received 7 critical violations. Raw eggs and crab were not being stored at the correct temperature. An employee cut raw chicken with gloves and then, without removing gloves and washing hands, touched ready-to-eat soy sauce to be served to a customer. A pan in the refrigerator had wrapped food and raw meat stored together. This can cause cross contamination. The inspector also observed a can of Raid Max roach killer. Sushi Cortaro on N Courtney Page Way is operating on a "Provisional" license.
3 Cheeses & a Noodle on E University Blvd., Sparkroot on Congress and Sonic Drive-In on W Grant Road all received an "Excellent" rating.
