TUCSON - The March of Dimes'  "March for Babies" fundraising campaign officially kicked off this morning, with a breakfast at El Parador restaurant. News 4 Tucson's Kristi Tedesco was the emcee.

From now until the big event, April 29th, walkers will rally people to sponsor the cause. It takes expensive research, prevention programs and education to lessen the number of premature births. In Arizona, right now, one in eight babies are born premature. The resulting neonatal intensive care bills can easily top $500,000.

At last year's "March for Babies," 1,800 walkers participated, and almost $295,000 was raised. This year, the March of Dimes is hoping for more. If you'd like to learn more, click here:
