TUCSON - A Southern Arizona man wants to do something special for our Iraq and Afghanistan War Veterans, but he needs you to help.
Alan Toppel just got back from St. Louis where a hundred thousand people lined the streets to honor those who served.
Toppel wants to do the same, here in Tucson.
"This is something Tucson could do. This is something that has great importance," said Toppel. "It will allow every one of us to reach out and see the people who we read about and hear about. Here are our people in this community that have put their lives on the line."
"What a beautiful way to congregate a community and welcome back its heroes," said Vets 4 Vets Founder Abel Moreno.
Moreno, a vet himself, says those who've served need to know the community is behind them.
"This is the kind of thing that builds and brings hope to those veterans who don't have it and I think with this happening we're going to start seeing more things because I believe in the heart of Tucson. I believe that Tucson has a place for its veterans," said Moreno.
It's a way to recognize what they've done for the country.
"It's something that's well needed. I think that's what's really going to heal the hearts and the minds of veterans who have served in these conflicts," said Moreno.
"There is no question in my mind that Tucson will make it happen," said Toppel.
Toppel says, he's already met with city officials. We'll let you know how the story evolves and get all the parade information to you as soon as we get it.
