Posted 4:19 PM 9/9/2013 : Ohio man confesses to fatal DUI crash online
The Ohio man who posted an online confession to killing somebody in a drunken driving wreck was indicted Monday.
Twenty-two-year-old Matthew Cordle was officially charged with vehicular homicide.
Last week he posted a video where he said he's to blame for a wrong-way car crash in Columbus, Ohio that killed 61-year-old Vincent Canzani.
"When I get charged, I will plead guilty and take full responsibility for everything I've done to Vincent and his family," Cordle said in the video.
Cordle says he "made a mistake" when he decided to drive his truck home in Columbus, Ohio after "drinking really heavily."
He says he understands he's giving prosecutors everything they need to put him away for a very long time.
His attorney, Stark Breitmayer admits he was caught off guard.
"In my years of this, I've never met somebody that on the onset of a case prior to charges even being filed, has accepted responsibility in the way matt has," Breitmayer said.
The video ends with Cordle making a plea.
"I'm begging you, please don't drink and drive," said Cordle.
But the victim's daughter the video is misleading as was motivated by Cordle's desire to get a lighter sentence.
Cordle faces up to eight years in prison if he does what he promised, and pleads guilty at his arraignment Tuesday.
