TUCSON - John Bourque, the CEO and founder of Bourque Industries is awaiting sentencing in the Pima County Jail.

Last week a jury found the 49-year-old guilty of aggravated DUI. Bourque also served three years in the Arizona state prison system for a DUI in 2004.

Bourque invented Kryron, a light-weight aluminum allow, it's used in body armor, made in Tucson and sold throughout the world.

The inventor says even though he's behind bars his company will continue to thrive, "our product has never been defeated. We have the best armor in the world. There's no comparison when it comes to side by side. It's just the way it is. No we're not concerned about it at all."

Bourque rejected a plea deal stemming from the 2009 incident and represented himself in court last week. If convicted he could face up to seven years in prison.

The company named an interim CEO after Bourque's conviction, "we're making Kryron. We're making products. This was anticipated and John had a plan in place and he's implemented that plan and we're ready to do and continue business for here and for the future and for the shareholders," said Sean Floyd, the interim CEO.

Bourque will be sentenced in March, but he says he plans to appeal.
