TUCSON - All across the city, little league baseball teams are gearing up to take the field. But one little league organization has already suffered a big loss before the season has even begun.

The baseball sports complex, at Kino Parkway and 36th Street, is called the Field of Dreams, but once again it has become the field of vandalism for thieves.

It happened sometime last wednesday night, thieves forced their way in and ransacked the Randolph Little League's snack bar.

The thieves took everything they could get their hands on including a microwave, hot dog warmer, a deep fryer, nacho cheese dispenser, steel tables, CO2 dispensers, all the food and candy and even the hot water heater.

According to Randolph Little League Treasurer, Nikki Figueroa, the loss is devastating to an organization that depends on snack bar sales for most if its funding, "The snack bar itself is our main money maker, she said, "and for this to happen to us is just devastating to our cash flow as a league."

The league estimates the loss at somewhere between 5 and 10 thousand dollars.

But this isn't the first time the facility has been vandalized. Five times in the last four years the complex has been hit. Twice the field's lights have been stripped of copper wiring costing nearly $50,000 dollars to replace.

The Randolph Little Leagues slogan is "It's all about the kids". After being vandalized yet again, Randolph Little League vice President, Ron Figueroa, says the people who run the league for the kids, still cannot understand why someone would do this. "Its really sad to know that people are doing that especially to our community, that's what its more about, it hurts our kids who come out to play", said Figueroa, "it's about our community right here and that's what hurts."
the little league season starts in march... but registration has already started.

Randolph Little League is looking for donations to get the snack bar at the Field of Dreams back up and running. If you would like to help call Nikki Figueroa at 520-838-1182
