TUCSON - Mother Nature isn't helping the firefighters battling the Brown Fire in Cochise County. As of 3 p.m. on Wednesday, winds have gusted to 32 mph in Sierra Vista and the air-mass is very dry. Winds are being kicked up by a storm system well to the north of Southern Arizona. Meanwhile skies are sunny and temperatures warm with most spots into the mid to upper 80s. Winds will diminish after sunset and temperatures will fall through the 60s by 11 p.m. under mostly clear skies. Thursday will bring much calmer winds to the district with slightly warmer temperatures, reaching the low 90s in the warmest deserts. A storm system in Southern California will sweep through Southern Arizona by Friday and into Saturday. As of now, some of our forecasting tools indicate a chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms. This is the best chance of rain the region has seen in many weeks.
